After a lot of hard work designing, begging and borrowing equipment the day finally arrived to erect the stand, I went down on the Friday found our plot and setup the archway on which we displayed the new Worthing life Guard Banner together with the Gazebo, we then inflated the paddling pool which was the main focal point for the stall. After inflating the paddling pool we had to fill it with water this was more difficult than you would expect luckily I have taken a full 25Ltr water container with me but this was not enough, having searched the airfield we eventually found a tap refilled the water container and emptied it into the pool at least this stopped it blowing away.
8am Saturday morning finished setting up the display ready for the opening of the show at 9am

The Saturday was very hot and sunny and by 9.30 the stampede began with people streaming past the stand to claim the best spot to see the display. Once they had claimed their spot they started their wander around the many stalls.
Using our young girl drowning in the paddling pool (see below) as a shock tactic "we asking people what they would do?" Some answered back saying about CPR telling us the old sequence which gave us the chance to correct them and to invite them to join a club to update their lifesaving & CPR skills.

At the end of Saturday we had to pack most of the display away as the weather was due to turn stormy.
Sunday was a completely different day windy & pouring with rain when we setup; it was a slow start with people not starting to arrive until much later when the weather improved. Also as the aeroplanes in front of our display started their engines in the wind we all had to hold down the gazebo as it was about to take off as well.
In all we had a good couple of days at the air show handing out Water Safety advice & leaflets to children and adults, giving CPR & AED demonstrations, Promoting Rookies and lifesaving clubs throughout the UK, making contact with the Police Cadets coordinator to hopefully include water safety within their training.
As of the Monday night we had 4 potential new club members at Worthing Life Guard Corps along with a list of people interested in future courses locally and throughout the UK.
Finally I would like to thank all those who helped organise the display and assisted with manning the display over the two days.
