Task:
To carry out aims of RLSS UK in their area. They are appointed by the Branch Management Committee on an annual basis and are eligible for re appointment.
Priorities:
The Local Manager is a vital link in the chain of Lifesavers administration and development. There is so much to be done that the Local Manager needs a team of helpers and a list of suggested priorities.
Ensure administration is working correctly
Who are taking assessments in the area?
Are there any problems?
Are the arrangements for taking assessments working smoothly and in accordance with guidelines?
Do assessments understand the requirements?
Is full use being made of all assessors?
Are probationary assessors being involved to aid full TA status?
Is the standard of training appropriate?
Is the standard of assessing appropriate?
Are the assessment forms being completed satisfactorily and promptly?
Are there sufficient assessments forms available?
Are awards being processed promptly?
Can the Local Manager be contacted easily?
Actively seek opportunities for talks, demonstrations, PR etc
Actively seek to increase awareness of Lifesavers
Seek new opportunities for lifesaving training
Seek new opportunities for resuscitation training
Seek new opportunities for water safety training
Seek new opportunities for rookie training
If there are difficulties seek to overcome them
Liaise with Branch Officers
Help Lifesaving or Lifeguard clubs to develop and canvas new members
Are there opportunities for new groups
Support and develop lifesaving in schools
Encourage ATCs to undertake other Lifesavers awards, eg B.Med, Rookie, Community Life Support, Save a Baby’s Life etc
