This year our AGM will be on 24th March at 10am at University of Sussex, Bramber House/Refectory Rd, Brighton BN1 9QU. Our new Community Drowning Prevention Coordinator Hannah Wgiggins-Bettles will be joining us, so come and introduce yourself. The AGM will be followed by a free Safeguarding course with RLSS Certification of attendance for all Club Welfare Officers and any TA’s or Instructors or other Active Officers within Sussex that may wish to attend.
AED – This year, the Branch has again set aside funds to support its’ voluntary clubs. You will be aware that Resuscitation Council said that from 1st January 2017 all life support and first aid courses should include designated areas of AED. The RLSS have supported this initiative by offering a reduction on the purchase of AED trainers. The Branch have purchased one for 7 clubs in Sussex which will be given out at the AGM. We are also offering a free Community Instructors’ Course and AED trainers’ course so clubs can cascade down the knowledge and offer courses in their local area. The Community Instructors’ Course will be held immediately after the AGM. Pre-requisites You musy be 16 years of age Hold a current Life Support 3 (a copy will be required with their application form) This course will enable you to promote not just the AED, Save a Life programme, but also the Save a Baby’s Life, Save a Child’s Life and the Save an Adult’s Life programmes. Closing date is 9am, Monday 20th March 2017. Places will be limited and strictly on a first come first served basis. In addition we will hold an AED Trainer / Assessor Course for Clubs’ who already hold a current Pool, Beach or full Lifesaving Trainer / Assessor status. As a TA candidates should hold a current Life Support 3, NPLQ or NVBLQ and have been through the AED programme.
